Germany Further Supports Indonesia with 59.4 Million EUR
Indonesia and Germany sign agreement on projects central to Indonesia’s development
Jakarta, 23 June 2021 – Indonesia and Germany today sign an agreement for technical cooperation. With a total volume of 59.4 million EUR, 16 projects are financed by the German Government for bilateral cooperation projects the areas of renewable energies, green infrastructure, forests and climate change, sustainable economic development and technical vocational educational and training, as well as governance.
From the total 16 projects, 15 projects are financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and one project by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Among the recurring areas of cooperation, several new bilateral cooperation areas comprise of the following projects:
Supporting Indonesia’s endeavour in sustainable reduction of carbon emissions in Indonesia and in line with the “German-Indonesian Green Infrastructure Initiative for Green Infrastructure”, the Indonesian-German project on “Green Infrastructure Development” will focus on promoting climate-friendly infrastructure development (and financing implemented by German Development Bank, KFW) in Indonesia in three sectors – solid waste management, water and wastewater management and urban public transport.
