Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Surveys Waste Management Infrastructure in Bali Province
On Wednesday and Thursday 17-18 November 2021, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will conduct a review of the waste management infrastructure in Bali Province. This activity is one of a series of Green Infrastructure Initiative workshop activities related to the solid waste management sector in Bali Province. Present at this event were a number of policy makers from both the central and local government levels, including representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Director of Forestry and Water Resources Conservation of BAPPENAS Nur Hygiawati Rahayu, and representatives from the provincial government and BAPPEDA offices.
On this occasion, Kemenko Marves reviewed as well as invited participants to see the process of waste management in Klungkung Regency. The first agenda began with a visit to TOSS Klungkung Regency where the group of participants was welcomed by the Regent of Klungkung I Nyoman Suwirta. He showed and explained how the garbage collected from all villages in Klungkung Regency is managed and processed every day. He also demonstrated the technology of converting waste into electricity in collaboration with STT PLN. I Nyoman Suwirta believes that TOSS is the best waste management model to implement
The event continued with visits to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningann to see the state of the landfill in Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan and the Ceningan Sea Water Resease Osmosis (RO) facility on the first day of the visit. The second day’s visit was carried out at the Samtaku TPST. The Samtaku TPST is a waste management facility carried out by three large companies and inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan a few months ago. The purpose of this visit is to show support from the private sector in managing waste in the area in order to build a circular economy for the area. The event was closed with a visit at ITDC Nusa Dua where activity participants could see and feel the Electronic Vehicle (EV)
During this visit, Director Nur Hygiawati Rahayu from BAPPENAS conveyed the importance of managing waste and good regional leadership so that a good circular economy can be formed.
